Pentium intel chip

Categories: ,

The latest generation of Intel Pentium processors, such as the Intel Pentium 8500, are based on the Intel Core i architecture, but have fewer CPU cores. The clock frequencies of the Intel Pentium CPUs are also usually below those of the smallest Intel Core i3 processors. Hyperthreading for doubling the CPU threads and a turbo mode are not available, but both AES-Ni and ECC RAM have been supported since the 6th generation. However, the latter support was withdrawn again because the Intel Pentium processors were too cheap for the manufacturer in the mini-server segment. The Pentium processors now even have all virtualization functions including VT-d.

Contrary to the description, the integrated Intel HD Graphics is almost as fast as in the Intel Core i series (desktop). But it’s not enough for current games. In general, the Intel Pentiums are not bad in games and, paired with a dedicated (external) graphics card, they can usually display current games smoothly as long as the resolution is reduced. In addition, the dedicated graphics card should be an entry-level model, since high-end graphics cards are not fully utilized by an Intel Pentium processor. Intel Core i5 or Core i7/i9 processors are better suited here.

The Intel Pentium processors are primarily intended for the average office PC, even Adobe Photoshop runs pleasantly fast on the Pentium processors. Intel Pentium processors are currently only used in the desktop sector. Particularly energy-saving models are marked with a T in the article designation and have a reduced clock rate (and are therefore slower).

Intel Pentium processors are not always based on the Intel Core generation, but are also based on the Intel Atom platform. It is therefore advisable to check the performance of the processor before making a purchase, as this can vary widely. In addition, it can make sense in some areas to keep an eye on the smaller Intel Celeron processors, some of which are almost on a par with their larger Pentium brothers.
